Privacy policy

Last updated: April 25, 2026

Short version

Citipax is a free, independent civic-information site. We collect email addresses from people who voluntarily subscribe to our digest, plus a small set of preferences they choose. We don't sell, rent, or share that data with anyone outside the email-delivery vendor we use to send the digest. You can delete your data at any time.

What we collect

  • Email + subscription preferences — only if you sign up for the digest. We store your email, your chosen topics, your zip code (used to surface region-relevant policies), and your selected delivery frequency.
  • Region preference (cookie) — when you change the “Viewing” selector, your choice is saved in a browser cookie so the site remembers it. No account, no tracking.
  • Subscribe-prompt dismissal (cookie) — if you dismiss the “Get personalized updates” banner, we remember it for the rest of your browser session so we don't keep nudging you.
  • Standard server logs — our hosting provider (Vercel) records request metadata (timestamp, page, IP) for abuse prevention. We don't use this for marketing or analytics.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, social pixels, or session-replay tools. There are no Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, or similar scripts on this site.

How we use it

Email + preferences are used only to send you the digest you signed up for. We use Resend as our email-delivery vendor; they process your email solely to deliver the message. We use Supabase to store the data; they host the database. Both have their own privacy policies. Neither is allowed to use your data for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

Subscriber records are kept until you unsubscribe. Once you click the unsubscribe link in any email, your row is marked unsubscribed and stops receiving sends; your email is retained only to honor future suppression. If you want it deleted entirely, email us (below).

Server logs are retained per Vercel's defaults (typically 30 days).

Cookies

We use a small number of strictly-functional cookies — region preference and the subscribe-prompt dismissal flag described above. We don't use cookies for analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking. You can clear cookies from your browser at any time; the site will simply forget your region selection.

Your rights

  • Unsubscribe — click the unsubscribe link in any digest email, or visit /preferences with your token.
  • Delete — email hello@citipax.org from the address you signed up with and we'll remove your row within 7 days.
  • Export — request the data we hold on you and we'll send it back as JSON.

Children

Citipax is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone in that age range.

Changes

If we change this policy materially we'll bump the “Last updated” date at the top and, for active subscribers, mention the change in the next digest.
